here. Girdwood 2020 is
an association of over 600 Alaskans with an
interest in the future of the Girdwood Valley. It
is governed by a steering committee headed by two
co-chairs. Membership is available without charge
to all individuals who are committed to the mission
and purpose of the organization. Separate
committees will be established from time to time to
pursue specific objectives that meet the goals of
the organization, including: •
Land Use Planning - to provide consistent
community input into Municipality of
Anchorage land use plans and regulations
by advocating the wise use of private and
Municipality owned lands to foster resort
development and other private development
in the valley, including but not limited
to the following: •
Enhanced recreational
opportunities •
Resort and Commercial Development - to
encourage well-planned, compatible and
attractive resort and commercial
development, particularly at the valley
entrance, on both sides of Alyeska Highway
at the New Girdwood Townsite, and on the
Alyeska Resort base lands. •
Community Education - to assist the
community in developing a consensus on a
realistic vision of the future. To
